Make what you love.

“The Forgotten”, a collaboration between Jerd Productions and Stereoscope Studios, began with a simple premise—to make a short film they would want to watch.

Genres collide.

When Jeff Mueller and Alec Walker sat down to collaborate on “The Forgotten” they knew they wanted to branch out from the genres that monopolized the Washington D.C. area independent film market to focus on what they both loved—fantasy and horror.

While filmed in four days, pre-production was a different story. Taking two months, all of the location scouting, casting, costume and set design, fight choreography, storyboarding, etc… was meticulously planned out; as the margin for error on micro-budget films is almost non-existent.

All the hard work paid off though, with the film netting several awards:

  • 2020 Global Shorts Festival - Award of Excellence

  • 2020 Global Shorts Festival - Best Actor (Jeff Mueller)

  • 2021 Origins Film Festival - Best Fantasy Short

  • 2022 Origins Film Festival - Best of the Fest

In addition, award-winning game designer Michael Surbrook was inspired to adapt the mythology of “the Forgotten” into a role-playing game supplement.

“Our goal was simple. Make something we would enjoy watching, and do it in a way that followed our core principles—everyone has fun, everyone gets paid, and everyone is proud of the result.”

Teamwork matters.

Anyone that tells you that they made a film all on their own is lying.

To bring this 13 minute short film to life, it took a team of 18 passionate people. Everyone from the camera and sound crew, the stunt team, the makeup and wardrobe team, to the Production Assistants who kept the set running smoothly… and everyone in between!

It is impossible to thank each of them individually here, but you can see the full credits on IMDB or watch them scroll by after you finish watching “The Forgotten” on Amazon Prime.

We hope you enjoy our film, the world we tried to create in such a short run-time, and the behind-the-scenes photos showcased here.

Thank you for supporting independent film!
